JPA Scholarship
Education
The JPA scholarship is a government award from the Public Service Department (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam) for high-achieving Malaysian students to pursue tertiary study locally or abroad. It typically covers tuition and living costs and has historically been highly competitive, awarded based on academic results, interviews, and sometimes co-curricular achievement and socioeconomic considerations. Some awards carry a bond requiring recipients to serve in Malaysia after graduating. Programme names and structures have changed over the years, including shifts between full scholarships and convertible loans. Availability, coverage, and bond conditions are decided by the government and subject to the latest rules.
