EIS (Employment Insurance System)
Employment
The Employment Insurance System (Sistem Insurans Pekerjaan) is a SOCSO-administered scheme that helps workers who lose their jobs. Both employer and employee contribute a small percentage of monthly wages. If an insured worker is retrenched or loses employment through no fault of their own, they may claim temporary financial assistance such as the Job Search Allowance, along with re-employment support, career counselling, and training. Resignations and dismissals for misconduct generally do not qualify. Claims must be made within a set period after losing the job. Eligibility, rates, and benefit amounts are subject to the latest rules.
