Touch n Go RFID vs SmartTAG for daily KL toll commute, which better?

I drive through several tolls daily in KL. Currently using SmartTAG but the reader sometimes fail and I hold up the queue, malu. Should I switch to RFID sticker? Any downside, and how reliable is it now?

Switched to RFID 2 years ago and no regret for daily commute. Pros: no more battery dying like SmartTAG, no need to point the device, it links to your TnG eWallet so auto reload possible and you can see transactions in the app. Reliability now much better than the early buggy days - just make sure the sticker is pasted properly (windscreen recommended over headlamp for most cars) and your eWallet has balance. Cons: occasional reader lag at some plazas, and if your balance kosong the barrier wont open (embarrassing, so enable auto reload / GO+ ). SmartTAG advantage is it works even at some non-RFID lanes and you top up the card separately. My take: for pure KL daily toll, RFID + auto reload is the smoothest. Keep a TnG card as backup in the car just in case one lane only accepts card.

With the new Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) barrierless tolling being rolled out, RFID/number plate reading is the future direction anyway, so switching to RFID now future-proofs you. SmartTAG slowly being phased in some areas. Might as well move over lah.

Enable the auto top up / GO+ balance feature, this is the game changer - you never kosong at the barrier. Also turn on the transaction notifications so you can dispute if double charged (happened to me once, refunded after I reported in app). RFID way more convenient once set up properly.
