My nasi lemak always praised by family and neighbours. Thinking to sell from home, deliver to nearby offices in the morning. What licensing needed, how to price, and any tips from those who done home food business?

Been running home food biz 3 years. Start small - dont invest big first, test demand with your neighbours and one office building. Licensing: you need to attend a food handling course (kursus pengendalian makanan) and get typhoid injection (suntikan) - this is required, cheap, done at klinik kesihatan. For selling volume you may need to register your business with SSM (RM60ish for enterprise) so you can invoice offices properly. Pricing: total your cost per packet (rice, sambal, egg, ikan bilis, packaging) then aim for at least 100% markup. A RM2 cost packet sell RM4-5. Take pre-orders via WhatsApp the night before so you dont over-cook and buang. Consistency of sambal is what brings repeat customers lah!

Logistics is the hardest part for morning delivery - the KL jam will kill you if you deliver too late. Plan a tight route, deliver to buildings clustered together, and set a firm cutoff time. Get a good insulated bag so the nasi stays warm. Cold nasi lemak = no repeat order.

Start a simple WhatsApp broadcast and a small IG page with nice photos. Word of mouth in office WhatsApp groups is powerful. Offer a "buy 10 free 1" for the office admin who collects orders, they will help you promote. Thats how I grew from 20 to 100 packets a day.

If you plan to grow big and sell to Muslim customers, look into halal cert down the line, but for small home biz the food handling cert and cleanliness is the priority first. Keep your kitchen spotless, ambil gambar for your own records. Reputation is everything in food.
