SPM 5A 3B, should I go STPM, matrik or diploma?

Got my results, 5A 3B. Family income low, thinking of the cheapest path to a degree. Confused between STPM (Form 6), matrikulasi, or diploma at polytechnic. Which one best for uni after?

Congrats on the results! I did STPM and here is the real talk. Matrikulasi is 1 year, easier syllabus, and CGPA generally higher which helps for local uni (UPU). But limited seats and quota system. STPM is 1.5 years, TOUGHER, treated as A-level equivalent, recognised worldwide - good if you might go overseas or private uni later. Diploma poly is practical, 3 years, you can work after or continue to degree Year 2 (credit transfer). For low income + fastest cheap degree, matrik if you get offer. If not, STPM. Diploma good if you prefer hands-on and want to start earning sooner. Apply for all, keep options open lah.

Diploma at polytechnic sangat underrated. My cousin did it, transferred to Year 2 degree, saved 1 year and got working experience. Fees murah. If you like practical over theory, consider it seriously. Not everyone suits STPM exam pressure.

I did matrik and honestly the CGPA advantage is real for getting into competitive courses like medicine/engineering via UPU. But if you not sure what to study, STPM buys you more time to decide and the qualification more flexible. Depends on your goal la.

Low income family - definitely apply for whatever gives you PTPTN or scholarship coverage. Also look at Yayasan scholarships and JPA. With 5A 3B you got decent chance. STPM is FREE somemore (govt school), matrik also basically free with allowance. Dont go straight private diploma if it means big loan.
