Touch n Go RFID keep failing at toll, switch back to SmartTAG?

I just keep both. RFID for daily, SmartTAG card as backup in the glove box for when RFID moody or for lanes that still take SmartTAG. Redundancy saves the malu moment. If your RFID consistently unreadable, go to a fitment centre and get them to test and re-stick it, sometimes the tag itself defective and they replace. Don't suffer the honking, get it checked.

Mine failed until I realised my auto-reload threshold too low and balance sometimes kosong at toll. Turned on GO+ (the one that acts like balance) and enabled bigger auto top-up, never fail since. Also I moved the sticker to the headlamp, windscreen tint was the culprit. Try these before buying SmartTAG again.

RFID failing is usually one of a few fixable things. First, check your TNG eWallet balance and that auto reload (GO+ or reload) is on, most 'failures' are actually insufficient balance, not the tag. Second, sticker placement matters, headlamp position works better than windscreen for some cars, and if your windscreen has heavy tint or a metallic layer it can block the signal, that's a known issue. Third, a damaged or peeling sticker won't read, request a re-installation at a TNG fitment centre. Slow down approaching the RFID lane, don't tailgate the car in front so the scanner has time to read. Honestly after fixing placement and keeping balance topped up, mine works fine now. SmartTAG is a decent backup though, many people (me included) keep a SmartTAG in the car as plan B when RFID acting up. You can use both, just don't stack them active at the same lane. Keep balance topped, that solves most cases.
