Want to adopt a cat but staying in condo, is it cruel?

Not cruel at all lah, cats actually adapt great to condo, in fact indoor cats safer and live longer (no cars, no fights, no disease from strays). I have 2 in my condo in Puchong, both super happy. Tips: cats sleep most of the day anyway so you at work is fine, but adopt TWO so they keep each other company (or get one that is independent). Set up vertical space - cat shelves, tall scratching post, window perch so they can watch birds. Grill your windows/balcony properly, cats fall from height a lot (high-rise syndrome is real!). Auto feeder and clean litter box daily. Adopt from SPCA or PAWS, dont buy. Best decision I made.

Get toys and a food puzzle to keep them stimulated when you out. Bored cat = destructive cat. My tabby used to scratch sofa until I gave proper enrichment. Now settled. Small space okay as long as mentally engaged.

Check your condo rules first! Some management strictly no pets, kena complain by neighbour then susah. Mine allow but must register. Ask before you fall in love with a cat and then cannot keep, heartbreaking situation.

Budget for vet also. Sterilise, vaccine, and emergencies can cost. Plus when you travel, need cat hotel or pet sitter. Not cruel to keep, but responsible ownership costs money and time. If you ready for that, go for it, adopting a rescue is very rewarding.
