STR (Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah), yes it's the successor to BR1M/BPR. You apply and check through the official LHDN portal (bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my) since it's administered by LHDN now, or through the MyKasih/official STR channels announced each Budget. The eligibility and amounts change every year with the national Budget, and it's tiered by household category (household with kids, household no kids, single individuals) and income bracket, so I won't quote a fixed number because it changes, check the current year figures on the official portal. Rough idea: it targets B40 and lower M40 households, with income thresholds around the low thousands per month for households and lower for singles. What you need: valid MyKad, your income info, bank account for the direct deposit, and update your details in the system. Payments come in a few instalments through the year. Please only use the OFFICIAL government portal, there are MANY scam links and fake "STR agents" on WhatsApp/SMS, never pay anyone to "help apply", it's free and self-service.

Make sure your bank account and details in the system are updated and active, a lot of people "eligible" but payment fail because bank account dormant or wrong. Also update if you got married or new baby, because the household category affects how much you get. Check status on the portal during payment months.
Important warning: SO many scams during STR season, fake SMS saying "click here to claim your STR" with a dodgy link. The government NEVER asks you to click a link and key in TAC/bank password. Always go direct to the hasil.gov.my portal yourself. My neighbour lost money clicking a fake STR link. Be careful.
If you never applied before, there's usually a fresh application window announced early each year, watch the news and the official portal. If you got it before, sometimes auto-continued but still verify your info. Also check SARA (the separate credit scheme) if eligible. Follow official LHDN and Kementerian Kewangan pages for real updates, not random WhatsApp forwards.
